Our Cape York adventure began with the arrival of our traveling companions, the incomparable Patsy Hallen and Peter Summers, old friends from Western Australia.

We had already picked up our rental Toyota Hilux, a rugged 4WD much used in the Australian outback.
Kitchen and bedroom
Our vehicle was outfitted for camping with a rooftop tent, fridge, Coleman stove, folding table and chairs, utensils, and dishes. Carolyn and Charlie would sleep in the rooftop tent, while Patsy and Peter would pitch their favorite backpacking tent nearby.
